FunkY2K
EDITORIAL PORTRAIT SERIES · JUN 2026
Y2K fulfills its ’70s fever dream.
FunkY2K is a collaborative editorial built around color, nostalgia, play, and a deliberately blurred sense of time. Y2K hyper-saturation collides with the shapes, patterns, interiors, and flower-power optimism of the 1970s, creating a world that feels familiar without belonging entirely to either era.
The project began with a shared interest in building something joyful, strange, and unapologetically expressive. From there, the visual language grew through polka dots, highlighter color, exaggerated proportions, clowning, retro interiors, and botanicals treated as material rather than decoration.
Florals became part of the world-building. Roses were reflexed into exaggerated forms. Anthurium were hand-painted with metallic, leopard-inspired pattern. Gems, dyed materials, trailing textiles, sculptural arrangements, and oversized wearable florals pushed familiar botanical forms somewhere more playful and artificial.
The result is less an exercise in recreating nostalgia than remixing it. A little Lisa Frank. A little flower power. A little suburban fever dream. And a lot of color.
